Question gauge wires

So I took out my Fuel Gauge, Clock and Oil Temp gauges to have them redone. They look great now.. only problem is i didn't mark the wires so I don't know what color goes where. I heard that the Brown wire is hot on the dash lights not ground. Can anyone help? My wiring diagrams don't give any help...

thanks
dave

Check out the wiring diagram on Dave's site. There's 2 sizes, I took the big one to work and had it printed on our plotter on 24x36 paper to hang on the wall of my garage....

I found this shot of the guages on my old 67. The brown wires are the earths and the blue with yellow strips are the live to each instriment light, this is daisy chained around the front. The green wires that you see are the connections to each instrument ie, feul and so on.....

We may be lucky, and are, Alan may know? did they not use all the same color wiring on the old British cars, as I recall it could be the reason my mechanic retired?!!

Thank you, brillant picture. I purchased a stalled project - trying to reinstall instruments at the moment - this is a great help.
