tuning the solex pII 40mm carbs

what are the tricks to in order to tune the solex carbs correctly? i follow all the steps in the manual, but i still cannot get the car to idle properly. any advice and help?? thanks

There's many things that can cause your problem besides the carbs; timing, dist, linkage to name a few. The guys at http://www.912bbs.org/ have a good search engine and that might be a great place to start, this topic often comes up there.

I just cured the same problem with my carbs. I rebuilt them. the kits are available thru many suppliers. I happened to use Stoddards. Be sure to get EVERYTHING including the little nylon blocks. I read as much as I could find on the subject but Duane Spencers Performance Guide for 912's seemed to cover it best. My engine now idles perfectly.....with even acceleration through all gears. Unbelievable difference in power.
Set aside a better part of a day as it does take time.
