Fogs work but only in high beam?
I installed a new set of fogs on my 67 today. The original ones were destroyed. I pull my factory installed switch in the dash and the little red light illuminates and the fogs turn on but only when on high beam. What could be the problem? I know the should work with the low beams only.

I figured out the problem with the fogs. The Previous/original owner wired the power to the high beam fuse which is #9 all I needed to do was move it to #11 0r 12 one of the low beam fuses and this solved the problem. What I need to know from those with fogs are is this the correct way and what color are the wires coming off the fog light switch. I have three wires coming from the switch. Mine are all green one is a ground another goes to the above mentioned #11 fuse and the other to the fog light fuse #5.

Alex, I got your email. I wish I could give you a clear answer but my nice color coded wire diagrams are on an unplaned extended loan
![]() I would think that running power from the low beams might overload the fuze. Each fuze is for one light. One way around this might be to run power to the fog swich from the key or leave it on the fuse you have it on and then install a relay under the hood. Feed power to the relay from one of the big red lines in front and add a inline fuse. Good power and no overload to the existing system. Are the fogs high power driving type? |

The fogs I have installed are 55 watt H3 halogen type. So far they have worked fine when the low beam lights were on and no blown fuses yet. But I will install a relay for them. I still would like to know how the originals were wired up and the color of the wires if anyone has this info.

Hello
Look at the wire shematic from your car and you will find the answers. However US and ROW use different posts on the fusebox. Grüsse |

That main wiring diagram doesn't show how the fogs are connected or the switch wiring. This is the problem I've been having...
Alex - how have you wired up the switch? Do you need a relay? David |

Hello
On all 911/912 up to MY 1969 is the wireshematic complete including additional electrics: http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/Electrical/911_electrical_1965_911S.jpg In 69 the wire shematic was splittet in two main sheets and additional sheets for the extras ( electric windows, webasto heater, Aircondition, rearwiper, additional Foglights Front & rear covering ROW, germany, swiss and europe on one sheet ) In 73 the wire shematac wis changed from "birdview" to "flowviw". http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/911_electrical_diagrams.htm Now the fog lights where hooked up very similar over the 20 years and the working sheme was made by hooking up the switch or relay to different posts on the fuse boxes. From the looks of it my car came with fogs so the switch was in its place and so was the wiring. The wiring is solid green and does not look original one wire runs to the low beam fuse and the other to fuse five which is the fuse for the fogs. When I hooked up my fogs originally the one wire ran to the high beam fuse and that is why they only came on with high beams. The rest of the wiring seems to be original because it is runing from the harnes to the fogs and I used this to hook to the new fogs. I did not use a relay and have run the lights quite often without a problem. I have spare fuses just incase.
