1969 912 engine and trans value?

Hi I have a complete 100% original 912 engine and trans from a 69. This had 58k when pulled. Runs great and trans worked great before removal. Still complete with tins. The only thing I've found that was changed is the air filters and housings. All case numbers match from what I've been told and can find myself. I'm basically wondering what a fair dollar value is. I have a guy who wants it but says it's not worth much?? I had it running the other day. Good conpression and leak down.

For a good running motor and trans, you should expect $5-$8k

That's kinda what I was thinking. He said it's not worth anything over 2k. I almost sold it to him but thought they were worth more to me personally so I kept them. I want to sell them to a good home. Can post numbers, pics , or if I can figure out how a video of it running. Should I post this on another section? As Im very new to this forum. Any help would be appreciated.

I sold my #'s matching 67 engine and trans for $3500 two years ago. Dumb. I think 5 to 8 might seem low in a year or two.

Well maybe the best thing to do would be fogg the motor shrink wrap it and put it up in storage. Seems like these old porsche's are getting more vaulable by the day.
