Porsche Crest 912 unresponsiveness....

.... i have a '67 912 which seems to be lacking a bit of power on acceleration, once it reaches around 3000 revs it's fine but it takes time getting there even when warm, is this normal for this car? I am new to the 912 scene and would appreciate some advice.

Cheers

Porsche Crest lack of power

Billy,
It's hard to tell from what you have said, but the float levels could be set to low and starving the engine of fuel. The fuel pump could be wimping out at a certain rpm. I would definately start with the fuel system though, my 69, 912 does not lack power as you have noted.
Good luck,
Chas. 69/912

You should check the carb. accelerator
pump. It makes a huge difference. On the
stock solex it should be about .5cc
per 2 full pumps of the throttle.

Could be your idle circuit may be plugged or your dist. is not advancing, sticking?? Any vacuum lines or vac caps loose?
