Looking for 69' original engine

When I bought my 912, I knew it did not have the factory engine with it (although it has the numbers matching transmission). The previous owner said it blew in 2001 around Los Angeles and was cheaper to replace so he did... My gut feeling is that it's in some junk yard or was melted for scrap, but on the off chance that someone picked it up... I'm looking for engine number 4096213. If anyone's seen it, or knows of a better place to look, all help is greatly appreciated.
