I have my 69 912 tuned the best in a year. I have new webers and I dialed in the mixture screws to one turn off the bottom with .50 idle jets. The manual says to start with the screws 2 1/2 turns off bottom but when I start at that point the car is way to rich to start. Is one turn normal or do I need to look further to get the idle screws further away from the bottom?

Hi!
I run Solex carbs so my advice is based on a different beast BUT: The settings recommended for my carbs were about one full turn off of what was required to get the thing to run correctly. I don't know Webers but I am hoping by posting a reply that one of the weber guys will step in and help out.... Morrie 67 912 Coupe |

Webers should have .55 idle jets for a 1600 - 1800 engine, 1.30 main jets, 2.5 turns off the seat is the proper starting point for the idle mixture screws. a synchometer is very helpful for setting the air by-pass and idle speed screws, etc. CBperformance.com has a weber tech manual by Bob Tomlinsin that was very helpful to me. If your into tuning your own car it's highly recommended. ************* has the best price I've seen on the synchometer.
