generator light

this/these issues were tacked on to the bottom of another thread.
any inputs-assistance?

"generator light that increases with intensity as RPM's increase. At higher RPM is actually blinks at a steady rate like it is being timed by a relay opening and closing."
"same generator light issue where it gets brighter at revs. My tach acts up too, "sticking" at a couple thousand RPMs. Are they related??? I dunno. help me out!"

and mine.. basic same : very dim if at all when at idle.. brighter sub idle.. gets a little brighter at 2K and higher.
have battery drain when parked.. another/side issue. will use Morrie's method to seek it out..

generator itself the problem?

thx,
chuck

You might want to start with the voltage regulator. Do you have one to swap in?

Chuck

Check the V regulator and make sure you have the right one. I think, small dia. is 25 amp. 360watt, Large dia. is 30amp. 420watt

Out of the 3 rebuilt small dia. generators I had, All 3 did the same thing before dying all together. very dim if at all when at idle.. brighter sub idle.. gets a little brighter at 2K and higher. I had a 30 amp(420watt) v-reg. and small dia. gen. (360watt). Sucked the solder right out of all 3. Shop did the first two and I did the last one. Went with Large dia. generator because I couldnt find anymore small dia. generators.

Very helpful link, Thanx Dave
