I am working on the same situation. I noticed that the 912 engine had a long rod which connected from the carburators linkage at rear of the shroud to a rod which connected to the pivot on the transmission. It uses a hook which fits in that pivot point. Please excuse me but the Porsche 912 factory spare part catalog has a picture, but parts are not named "just refer to 911 catalog". Since we can not use that linkage, I will use the stock vw throttle tube to the shroud and secure it with a clamp behind the shroud, use a steel cable (similar to a VW Heavy Duty accelerator cable) and weld it to one of the threaded holes of a barrel nut (used for vw accelerator/heater cable) protecting the cable against freezing etc... by sealing it with a plastic tubing and sealer so the water can not get in. The other side of the barrel nut will match up to the Porsche linkage by screwing it to the threads of the rod. It should work! Take care, and good luck.
