912 Distributor Rotor Tune Up/Parts Source
Dear fellow 912 owners:
I have the 050 distributor. Pelican sells a kit for tune up but not for this 050 distributor. In their list of points and rotors, I cannot discern what I should order for the 050, they use descriptors such as "light alloy" for the distributor. Can you advise on what and where to order ? Also, how often do you replace the rotor and cap ? Thanks Dana |

Try a VW outlet, it is a VW distributor. There is a company that makes a pointless kit for this distributor.
It is not a very goof distributor for a 912 engine, neither is the 009. You really need a 022, 031, or a RS0012. any of these are curved correctly for the 912. The RS0012 is a recurved 009 for the 912. |

This info is not as easy to find as it once was so save it.
050 tune-up parts I believe there are several versions of points that will work including the including the “Tiger Tail” with the stiffer spring but I use standard Bosch: Bosch part numbers: 01011 Points ( same as 009) (also called 9237013044) 9231081465 - Condensor 9231081628 - Rotor 9231081413 - Dist cap Is it the "perfect" curve for a 912, not really, but it will work fine. I'll bet that hundreds of 912/356 ran them for years and still do.
