912E Fuchs question
What do you guys think right price would be for 16x7 and 16x6 set of Fuchs in 8 out of 10 condition? With tires. Just need an idea what i could sell mine for.
Also do you thing 16x8 and 16x7 BBS would be ok without rubbing? Thanks in advance. |

Even on some of the 911S of the 76-77 required them to roll the inter lip of the fender for the 7 and 8's wide. It depended on the tire sized used. The less bulging of the sidewalls the better the fit and less rubbing. Also the height of the car will make a difference, the lower the car the more chance of rubbing.
Still you are putting a lot of tire under a car with very low torque. The wider the tire the more torque is needed to get the car moving from a start. It will feel really doggy with higher RPMS coming off the line compared to a 4.5" rim with narrower tires. Also more wind resistances at higher speeds. However, non of this will matter if you are going for the "look and no go". The Forged factory Fuchs are worth a lot more than the cast BBS wheels. Basically the Fuchs are a better wheel. The tires really don't mean a lot, unless they are brand new and top of the line say Michelin, Pirelli, or Bridgestone. They will mainly be buying the rims. I would tell you to keep the tires. The racers would mostly be looking for the 7 and 8''s, and those wanting the tough racing look. So just look and see what they are going for on the web auctions. |

You're better off going with 15's. I've tried 16's on a 912E and unless your engine is substantially modified and making a lot more than stock HP, the 16's make the car feel a LOT slower. The gearing disadvantage plus the change in reciprocating weight make a really noticeable difference. Trust me on this. Go with 15's.

Keep it as light as possible for handling and performance. I would prefer a 6 and 7 15" Fuchs set. I experienced the difference with my 911SC. I bought it with a set of 7" and 9"(!!!) and replaced these with 6/7x15 cookie cutters. The car changed from a floating bath tub to a Porsche.
And, remember that the 912E has 10% more weight than the early 912 and has 10% less hp. Steering gets less comfortable with every increment in wheel/tire width and weight of the car. Otto |

I used 16X6 front and rear on my E. With 205-55-16 tires, it keeps the ride height and speedometer correct. It also enables you to rotate your tires front to back. Many more choices of high performance tires available in the 16" size.

Here are some 6x15 on a 74 Euro 911S Targa and 8 and 9x15 on a 80 SC. Of course the SC is lowered and my favorite E30 BMW. I wished I still had it.
