Hello,
Does anyone know the best way to get pushrod tubes out without removing the heads? I'm planning on installing the after market expanding ones. Thank you, Chas. 69/912 |

Remove the pushrods then crush and fold the pushrod tubes with a pair of pliers. They are thin walled and easy to crush.

Yes,with the rocker out of the way the pushrod slides right out. I keep the pushrods in a tennis ball can of clean oil so they are full of oil when I reinstall them.
Yes, with the motor in place, gotta deal with the flapper boxes if you still have them. |

Green,
Is it important to keep the push rods in the exact order they came out in for re-installation? With American V8's I've worked with it was always advised. Thanks, Chas. 69/912 |

For US iron and type 4s yes. For 356/912 the Men in plaid that I learned from don't bother so I don't as well and with no problems so far.
I wonder what the rest of the 912 gang do? What does Pellow recomend? |

If it were me, I would try to keep them in order. Cant hurt. If something funny does arise with the rods, you would second guess yourself saying ' darn, should of put them in as they came out' And not just the rods
