Getting close!

Hi All -
Well, the band has taken the next 30 days off (less rehearsals) so I actually have access to something that has been in very short supply....TIME!!!
I spent both Saturday and Sunday on the Martini car to finish some projects that have been lingering for many months.

First the interior. I highly reccommend NOT EVER making your own carpet kit. My hands/back/knees are fried. It did come out great however. The back firewall was a chore, but in the end it looks dead nuts to a GT. Using the felt carpet (perlon) on the upper dash really made the biggest difference. I have the box built for the interior kill switch that goes between the seats. Does anyone know where I can find the correct Bosch kill switch? I need to finish that up and then it's just a matter of waiting for my seats to return from Scott at Renegade Hybrids (man, are they nice folks on the phone).

Oil cooler -
I finished up the install of the front oil cooler/GT shroud. It looks great. I had a 115 R15 space saver spare installed on a 4.5" 356 wheel and mounted it upright on the front firewall. Nothing like having to pull out the gas tank just to install a spare tire mount...
It came out well and I am able to use the relocated factory hold down. I used a sandwich adapter to run the oil lines and a 180 degree t-stat. After the initial start up, the pressure light goes out as quickly as if it was stock. When the car is running the oil level is just a bit over normal. However, the next day when I checked it with out the car running (it was stone cold) the dip stick reads pretty high. Is this normal? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Scott S

What is happening is the oil in the lines and cooler is running back into the case sump. In almost every situation, the cooler is higher than the bottom of the engine. You need at least one full flow check valve. Make sure it is not going to restrict oil flow. Months ago, someone had a brand/model posted. I don't know if anyone remembers what it was. DD?

Thumbs up

Nope - your not being an ass - unfortunately, I just have to much of an ass!!!

I spoke to them, I also had access to a set of Scheels and Konigs, but in every case the bottom cushions were to thick and my knees hit the sterring wheel. I want the car as original in certain aspects as possible and was not willing to go to a smaller wheel (it took me forever to find the GT/early 911 center pad and all of the horn bits to make it work. The guys at renegade are doing some different stuff for me that will work fine, IE. full correct vinyl bolsters and correct center material. I am sending them two seats to do, one with their "sport" bolsters and one that will be left stock but having them re-upohlstering so that the seats match. I also am getting the option where they cover a thinner piece of foam in the same material (with a harness sock) to lower you in the car even further. As DD has said many times, they will not allow you to delete the Renegade logo, but he is doing the logo on my seats in a color on color so it wont stand out like crazy.

I think a spacer will do the trick for me, or recess my knees, I could deal with a little closer wheel.

I am a musician, what do you play?

My primary band is called Exit 232: www.exit232.com
We considered ourselves american rock, IE. The Bodeans, Mellencamp, Springsteen. When we were with the Paul Simon Brian Wilson tour, he (Paul) compared us to the Eagles. Our new CD was just released last month, and somehow has found favor with the country crowd. We just signed on with the music side of E Entertainment out of Nashville - which is fun, however I refuse to where I hat or boots - ever.... unless their is a Dixie Chick involved...
I also do lots of studio and fill in work around the area.

heh! Fun bio. I play guitar. I also tell other people what to play for money.

Watch out for Music Row, it has nothing to do with music, and they don't give you a paddle.

Oh! BTW:

What is the difference in a bull, and a rock band?

On a bull, the horns are up front, and the ahole is in the rear.

And remember, rock'n'roll drummers can't count past four!

(Told to me by the former drummer for the SF punk band "The Mutants". And, from years of listening, I am now convinced that punk rock drummers can't count past two! )

This is my favorite......

Did you hear about the guitar player who locked his keys in the car?

It took two hours to get the drummer out.......

Sounds like "Back to the Future" Marty stuck in the trunk and they had to jimmy him out, haha.
