California State Senator Florez is trying to change the rolling 30 year smog exemption that was made into law by SB42. He wants to change it to 45 years back starting Jan. 1st , 2005. Please tell everyone you know in the classic/collector car hobby to email their state senator and oppose SB708!

I doubt this would make it though...
It would put too much of a financial burden on too many citizens who own classic cars. But I could see them repealing it in some way, just not back to 45 years. It would make it so that currently exempt cars would need to be smogged. Lame.

Pretty much every year some lame-brained politico introduces a bill to repeal the exemption. Every year (so far!) they get shot down. Just political fodder.
Unless, of course, one passes. If you're in CA, write your state congressman and tell them not to support SB708. They pay the most attention to snail-mail, then telegrams, then telephone calls, and email least of all. --DD
