Fuel Rail Upgrade
Has anyone had any experience with the 'upgraded' fuel rails offered by places like 9x auto?
http://www.9xauto.com/914frail.htm I bent one of my fuel rails pulling one of the old hoses off for replacement, and I was trying to figure out if it was worth the $175 for the upgrade. Thanks, ~Eric

No.
This is eye-candy, plain and simple. Expensive eye-candy, too. You can make a fuel rail that is just as effective from plumbing supplies if you really feel the need. Stockers, however, are plentiful if you look in the right junkyards. All claims for increased power from this device are BS. They have no dyno sheets for anything they sell--at least, not that they are willing to share... (Mueller asked at one point about dyno results for their "cold-air" system and they told him to buy their product and then dyno it on his own car if he wanted proof.) --DD

Yes, I just loved the color red, so I called 9x and bought a pair and installed them. Before I did, I made some calculations on them. Specificially the volumetrics and found the idea kinda ok. The price is totally out-ragious and ridiculous (sp). But, I don't have time to fab things up. So, I dropped the 175 bucks and got them. The results? Well, the car ran the same! But the fuel pump did work differently, it seems to have less strain or pain. So, I amped the pump and it does relieve the initial pressure. When I corner the beast I did get rid of the jerking. And when I floored the beast the very small hesitation did go away. But, you can make these rails for about 10 bucks instead of spending 175 bucks.....
