Positive battery cable question

Hello, a Porsche owner told me it is best to put on a new positive battery cable as they get old after 45 years and I have an intermittent starting problem I am trying one by one to eliminate. Are these specific to this car or sold as universal?

Specific to this car, or at least to a range of cars. There are a couple of extra wires that attach to the (+) battery clamp; they provide power to almost all of the car's systems other than the starter. You can adapt a universal cable to add the extra wires, though.

BTW, it would be fairly unusual for the cable itself to be the source of your issues. More often it's cable ends or connections that cause starter issues.
