Seat out 1974 914 do I take both relays out?

Hello, do I take both of these relays out to disable the seat belt fasten before start of cark for this year?

I am not sure, but I think with the seat belt thing, you only cut one pair of wires, do you remove the relay?

The smaller one should be the "door is ajar" buzzer. To disable the larger one, splice together the two fat yellow wires (one has a red stripe) that go to the socket. Use shrink-tubing to make sure that the join is nice and water-tight. Then the relay itself can be discarded.

Ok, so Dave if I join the two big yellow wires then I take out the big relay and leave the small one?

Doc, that's what I said. And what brcacti said. Connect the two fat yellow wires (one has a red stripe) together and unplug the larger relay. The relay has no function once you bypass the starter-interrupt, so it's fine to remove it.

Ok, so from the pictures I too earlier I put back the two yellow wires as they were with new connections and still no crank and not able to jump start at add on starter relay like before. I will try removing the relay and see what happens.

check power to the big yellow with red when the key is in the crank position and if power, check at the starter solenoid the yellow wire. If no power the ignition switch is bad

Dave may suggest a book pelican sells "tech tips 700". Road and Track said in their review 'no 914 owner should be without it". Among many many other things, it discusses this exact problem

Hi dr 914, I'm sorry I already put the seat back in after I put new connections on the big yellow and big yellow with red and plugged them back in so I can't get to that connection now to test it. BUT I do get 12.40 at the add on starter relay yellow wire and big thick black bolt on wire. One of my goofs was to forget to attache the white wire from the add on starter relay to the starter and I thought I had goofed up royally so put the thick yellows back in the relay when I probably did not have to
