916 Gearbox w/Fine Spline LSD w/930 CV Joints
Trying to verify all that is needed to properly connect the following drive components in a 914-6 application;
A 916 Gearbox ![]() ...using a 915 Fine Spline LSD ![]() ![]() ...and 930 CV Joints ![]() Notes: I have yet to accurately measure the length of these half-shafts to determine exactly what they are, maybe 930?? ![]() ![]() These two half-shafts were prepared in 1985 using 930 CV joints and I just want to make sure I have everything needed to make it all work in my 914-6 using a 916 gearbox and a fine-spline ZF LSD. ![]() My plan is to end up with two racing gearboxes; a 901 to go along with my 2.0 liter 906 TP motor, and the 916 for the more powerful 3.0 RSR. If and when I swap engines, so will the correct gearbox and corresponding half-shafts and other related hardwared. I realize getting the correct factory 914-6 half shafts for the 901 gearbox set-up is not the problem, and I have those. Having the 916 gearbox properly configured and ready to go with the fine-spline ZF LSD and 930 parts I already have, it's another story. Question... Did "Vellios" offered a "930 Half-Shaft/930 CV Joint Kit? I'm not talking about the 916 gearbox side-shift kit, ONLY the Drive Flanges, Half-Shafts and CV Joints. Thank you all for any leads and information. PS: I'm NOT looking to go with the cheaper 944 route. Saving $$$ is not the object, the best solution is...

Turbo shafts are shorter than the earlier ones due to the double bearing on the drive hub. If they are 930 shafts, you may be short...

The ring gear flange is going to be 4mm thicker than the original one, and the snout of the LSD is going to be about 6mm shorter. Be sure to have it professionally set up and installed by an expert. Someone like John Bunin or Otto or Aase should install the LSD for you.
