Exhaust question

My car is a 74 with a '70 1.7 big bore. I have the 1.7 SS heat exchangers with muffler and the 74 2.0 heat exchangers with muffler. Which is better set to use. They are both SS and in great condition.

2.0 HEs with a factory muffler?

I like the factory muffler.

Either one should be fine. If they're both SSIs, then they both have the same ID. The 1.7 one has the extra bend, but I doubt that has much effect on the actual power... I think you'd be pretty hard-pressed to tell the difference.

The factory banana muffler with the SSI he's will produce the most hp.

One thing to keep in mind, Most of the after market mufflers (including Triad) are set up to fit the 2.0 ltr SSI's.

I had the same thought as Eric, that down the road, if you ever want to change mufflers, there's a better selection out there set up to bolt up to the 2.0 HE's. Much smaller selection for the 1.7.
