I think that's what that part is. If not, can you take a photo of the old part, or where the part goes?

I know the piece you mean, but I am not finding it in my copy of the PET. Your best bet is likely to post a WTB ad in the Classified section here, and one in the equivalent over on the 914world BBS.

What's the point of it?

It is supposed to keep foreign objects from obstructing the operation of the emergency brake. Kind of important.

Yes at first sight, but carpet is than direct on top of the cable, see picture https://ibb.co/2gkh1WD, how dangerous would that be.

To make the car complete, anybody? or new product for R.D.?

I have a few spare, but shipping is ridiculous. Surely there is someone local. Better to ask on 914World where things are more active, and lots of guys have parts for sale.

Are you looking for originality ?
If not, it seems a flat piece of steel would do the job.

yes thanks, at first sight you would think so, than you have to raise the connection points. The way it is designed the cable runs through the raised tunnel section. I am in PHX area and should be able to find one at a wrecking yard or 20th Street Auto. Maybe R.D. can produce one as nobody has one.
