76 oil temp

i just had an oil temp installed and the guy that did it for me just fed the wire up into the engine compartment. i know 76's center consoles came pre-wired and stuff, does anyone know where the wire is in the car that u connect the sensor to besides directly into the console itself

There should be a connector in the main wiring harness over on the right-hand side of the engine bay. Look for a single wire (green/black, I think?) with a box connector on the end. There's a good chance that it is folded up along the main harness--the box may also not be there, it might be bare wire or it might be just a male spade connector without any box around it.
