What is resistance of head temp sensor?
When the engine is cold, what is the resistance of the hts? When the engine is warm, what is the resistance?
Right now, the ear of the head broke off so the hts won't stay in place and get a proper reading...so I am trying to figure out if I can just throw in a resistor and ground the thing so I can actually drive the car. Right now, as it is, the plugs get fouled because the engine runs extremely rich. I was thinking, if it is a great resistance when hot, just put in a huge resistor and ground it, and have almost no resistance until the engine gets warm. or visa versa when hot if it is opposite. Thoughts? Thanks, Paul |

Having just dealt with this in a '73 2L (yes these values differ by year and displacement) you get
~1200 to 1350 ohm <---<<< cold ~50 to 80 ohm <---<<< hot If I were you get a screw extractor (~$5 at a hardware store) and pull the thing. Then put in a new sensor. Yes it's in a tight place but the FI must have this in working order to run anywhere near right. good luck Ian |

thanks ian...my car happens to be a 73 2.0l also..i forgot to mention that...and i do remember that it does take a different hts because i just bought the thing about 3 months ago..
once again, thanks very much... the fix that i am thinking of doing would only be for this weekend so I can get it to a place that I can work on the car. i already have the parts that I need to fix it. thanks. Paul |
