4 speed questions
 

I have 912 4 SPD transmission.
I'm having trouble sourcing the first gear dog teeth.
Posting in the hope the 914 is the same ?

I believe that they are the same, though I do not know for certain. The 912 used a "901" type transmission, which the 914 transmission is based on. The 914 synchro rings have "911" part number prefixes, so I think that means they will work.

So, the applications listed for the "gear teeth" (these look to be the dog teeth) in the Pelican catalog page for the 912 transmission parts also cross-references to the 914.

NOTE: I am not sure if the type of dog-teeth used are the same as the five-speed's first gear set, or if they are the same as the five-speed's 2nd-5th gears!

Will the car go backwards? If a 901 from a 912 is installed into a 914??

Not sure why you would want to do that but you would need to flip the ring and pinion gear to have four forward speeds. You would also have to devise rear mounting and shift linkage.

I knew there was a simple answer, thank you for clarifying.
