Headlight motor trouble

My headlight motors are not working. I started troubleshooting the left first,
Switch off 12v to green constant
Switch on no 12v to any wire
Pull the red/green/grey wires out and short together with switch on and the right motor runs constant I can hear the relays clicking and they start to get a little warm.

Is there a procedure for trouble shooting these, I've looked and can't seem to find one.

The good news is my clock works in the center console!

Randy

There's a pretty good tech article on headlight troubleshooting on Pelican. Not sure if you've checked it out yet.

I took my clock apart and never got it working. Think I'll replace it with an oil pressure guage.

The clock is close to the clock that is in the Karmann Ghia, there is a really good write up on repairing the Ghia clock. I'll dig it up.

Whats the first thing you do when troubleshooting electrical problems? Verify the source...well my problem was from a total lack of a fuse in the fuse box...doohh!!! One of those things that you you deal with, that will go down as one of my top bonehead moves! The lights go up and down perfectly!

I think we've all pulled a move like that. My car wouldn't start so I began troubleshooting - about 15 minutes later I realized I had the battery disconnect knob in my pocket. Duh!

Thanks for the clock repair link. I tried it. The little motor was dead. I spent the money on an oil pressure guage and sender instead of getting the clock fixed, just have to find the time to put it in.
