Trans mount
Does anyone know how much you have to cut out of the brace that runs along the bottom of the rear trunk That hold the transmission mounts. I want to install on 915 in my 914. I don’t wanna make it too weak. I’m installing a 3.8 L 964 with a 915 trans that’s has the ring and pinion flipped with a wavetrack . It looks like you almost have to cut the thing completely out-of-the-way in order to get the engine tin up to be level and to seal the engine apartment. Any information is greatly appreciated, slammin out.

I have not heard of the cross-brace being cut at all! The 915 box is not, to my knowledge, that much taller than the 901-based 914 gearbox and does not require that sort of extensive modification. Double check the rest of your setup and your assumptions, because it sounds like something is badly off there!

Has your 915 been converted to the 916 type of tailcone that mounts the same as the regular 914 transmissions? I've not heard of anyone doing anything else for mounting. Photos would help a lot to explain your situation.

So using a 911 tailcone & mount; that is a challenge.

There was a 914 6 conversion on BaT recently that had a 915 - some of the photos might be of use? https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-porsche-914-111/

we have done many 914-6 conversions and quite a few with the 915 gear box. The transmission has to have the mounts shimmed to clear the body

I'm running the 916 kit and did not have to shim or cut anything. I'm using the Wevo Blue mounts on the trans. Nobody that I know of makes the special tin for a 3.6 in a 914. You have to take 914-6 tin and modify it with the 993 tin. I did have to add spacers to my headers to push the muffler a bit back to clear the rear back up light switch.
