Yes, it has been done before. Ducting air in from the front and out the bottom is one way, putting a big fan on the cooler and getting air in the front 1/4 of the condensor hole has also been done.

I just did this with an RX-7 cooler.

I cut 2 rows of 4, 4 inch holes in the replacement sheetmetal of the floor of the front trunk. I used a sheet of 1/8 UHMW polyethelene to make a scoop in and a scoop out. The scoop in is under the front row of 4" holes and the scoop out is under the back row of 4" holes. The plastic makes an arch under the trunk where it is screwed tight between the rows of holes and has a 1" spacer at the front and back. It reduces the clearance by about 1.5"(between the front wheels so speed bumps are not a problem)

The RX-7 oil cooler is just the right length to sit over the front set of holes. It sits in a metal box which ducts the air up through it, and back down to the rear set of 4"holes and out the exit scoop.

Last years drivers ed temps were very high. Sense I installed this, The temp gauge is dead vertical; either on the street or track.

Some pictures would be worth a thousand words here. I'll see what I can do.
