Question 2.7 vacuum advance question

I have a 914-6 with a 1976 2.7 liter 911 engine in it. I am running weber 40 IDAP's. The dizzy is of the vacuum advance type. I have two vacuum ports, 1 ooff the base of the carb on the #1 cylinder and the other of the base of the carb at the #4 cylinder. How should I have the vacuum advance hooked up? to one or with a tee to both? If one only which one? I really appreciate your help.
Thank you

That sound odd. What kind of intakes manifolds do you have? I my 75 914-6 with 2.7 it comes off number one. I have never seen two vacum ports. Did some one add one ?

its not a 2.0 six. it is a 911 1976 2.7 liter that originally was a CIS fuel injection. these must be after market webers on the motor. The vacuum ports are on the carbs right at the base.

Huh. With PMO's, you rely on mechanical advance (no vacuum advance).

...I learn something new every day!

I have a 2.7 in mine. The manifolds are from my factory 2.0-6. There are no ports on the carbs, mine are in the manifolds at cyl #4 & 6. I put them together with a tee and then to the dist. This is how it was set up on the 2.0.

On your 2.7 is your dizzy a vacuum retard? Someone told me that was the cas on the 2.7 with the CIS fuelinjection.

It depends on the model of distributor. Keep in mind that almost 99% of all 2.7 produced came with CIS. Mine was and most others were. I guess if I were you I would just plug one fitting on the manifold and run the other one to the vacum advance. If one of those fittings was left open you had a vacum leak and will have to readjust your carbs as far as idle and mixture .

I should also state that my vacum port is also of the manifold and not the carbs. I just reread the post and noticed that you mentioned that.

I think you would want "ported vacuum" (taken from the carb throat near the progression holes) to run a vacuum advance. Anything from below the butterfly valve would be manifold vacuum, and would likely only be good to run a vacuum retard.
