On the one hand, you've gotta admire the woodwork... and then on the other, you just ask, "WHY??!!?"

I was actually interested in this auction until the photos of the interior downloaded.

Ouch! That is nasty!!

It always amazes me that some individuals feel that they can "out-design" the engineers of Porsche!

Personally, the woodwork looks pretty second-rate. A friend of mine did his dash inlay in Koa, his brother owns custom woodworking business (does high-end kitchens and cabinetry in the SF South Bay), now THAT was a hell of a beautiful job.

Lotta work in that car, too bad he'll only get a fraction of what was put into it.

Hmmm... you're right, now that I look more closely, none of the gauges/lights in the center console line up correctly... fit and finish is pretty poor... and the wood texture/quality looks pretty low as well.

Those seats are none too pretty, either.

I guess this means no one is going to admit to bidding on it.

All dumb woody jokes aside, I think its interesting.

I do like the outside of the car. I would say I consider it to be one of the best "yellows" I've seen.

I do not like the seats. Fugly is all I can say. I do like the wood dash. I think a wood dash of teak, or Mohogany would be cool.

call me crazy, but I actually dig that car. The wood is a bit tacky, imo, but whatever floats your boat... At least the guy's got the guts to do what he likes and not what people think is "right"...

Those Recaros were available a long time ago, probably 20 years or so. They were cool when everyone was doing "rainbow" stripe paint schemes. I think they originated with the fancy German Porsche styling shops, like B&B.

Few more things to note:

* No shoulder belts, from what I can see.
* Giant speaker protrudes into drivers foot well
* 85 mph speedo (had one of those on my '83 944, ugh)
* Porsche emblem under front hood is a bit extreme
* Porsche emblems on brake calipers more than a bit extreme
* Wipers missing
* Love it when guys Armor-All the tire tread! Be careful on that first application of brakes after the purchase!
* Big screws above the tach and speedo are ugly
* Late carb'ed CA cars can require some "creativity" when smog time comes

But still, lots of positives on this car. Paint and exterior look extremely good. Interior has its flaws, but is a hell of a lot better looking than your typical 914 with its rips and cracks. Engine looks good on paper, hard to say though without hands-on examination. Front and rear trunks are quite good, though I'd like to have seen the front trunk w/o the tire in place, and the rear trunk w/o the carpet and insulating pad in place. Overall, it would be a great car - not sure if the reserve is realistic, given the current market.

HOLY COW MIKE! I was just talking about B&B two days ago in the chat here.

You remember the 928 B&B did in like 79 or 80? Was a few page thing in Road&Track.

The roof was chopped off, the trunkline was brought to a flat nearly vertical rear window, it had a targa....

That was the first V8 914 I ever saw.

You ever get vittles @ the Oyster Bar?

M

PS: The yellow teener looks like a freaking Shinto temple.

I love 914's (eventhough I only own 911's currently), but had to say what in the he...! This car is so thoroughly classless to be almost funny. I just love the commentary that goes along with the pictures. It just doesn't do much for me... give me a stone stock 914-6 everyday. Gaud awful.... IMO.

It is hard to tell from the photo's..........but I think that wood is PINE!!!!!!! I could be wrong. But it sure looks like pine to me.

It is is pine, that's like planning the perfect wedding......7 layer cake, live orchestra, officiated by the pope himself.......and having it catered by McDonalds.

Just my 2 cents. Let the retaliation comments begin!!!

The car itself looks pretty damn good...if a bit over done. The crests on the calipers are really over the top
The interior is pretty damn bad and showing the effects of finish breakdown....too much sun, me thinks.

I put in a wood dash.....mostly to cover all the holes left in the wake of a weight reduction frenzy. ......

Mine is a bit under done
