Porsche Crest 914-6 Custom Oil Lines

Thought I would show this to others on this board who may have interest.

I have just completed a set of Custom Oil Lines for a 914-6 conversion from a 4 cylinder model....

These were made to the specific instructions and lengths of the customer, and have the unique requirement of a AN-12 fitting at the indicated Hose end and likely for a AN-12 Oil Cooler.

I have been making Fuel and Oil Hoses for many years, and offer my line of "Direct Connect" fittings with Crimped AN6 (for Fuel) and AN12 (for Oil) Hose ends.

If you have any similar need for custom Porsche Fuel or Oil lines, please email me.

len.cummings at verizon.net

Thanks for looking.

Len

Any provision for draining the oil tank? Or do you just have to separate the lines at some point and catch what falls out, like with the stock lines?

Not sure where these hoses fit. Customer will be sending photos once installed.

I will try to follow up once I know.

Here is a set for a Six with front Oil Cooler done a while back....

Everything here is Metric.

Len, have a question for you. As you can see in the picture is the oil line from the oil tank to the oil cooler. Problem is the hose has to make a pretty hard 90 deg bend (not good). And gets worse when adding in the Rothsport oil check valve. It would be nice to have a metal 90 deg bend and what Dave mentioned adding a drain valve to it. Is this something you can do. Mark

You absolutely NEED a decent length of flexible line in that location!! Your engine moves around (even if you have solid mounts it still moves some!) and something that is all hard lines will cause cracking and failure over time. The only questions being, when does it fail, and what part(s) fail?

That said, I could see that having the bend be a hard line could be beneficial. But there absolutely needs to be a flex line somewhere in there.

Dave, that is an original hose sold as part of a package for 914-6's. I didn't like it either and now with the Rothspord check valve install the hose length is reduced and the 90 bend is worse.

Emo993-

Since you are adding the check valve, the remaining hose you have would make it longer, and possibly enough to make a larger radius sweep.

I can supply some additional hose or a hard 90 if you need it to make that bend.

An external spring would also help to eliminate a kink.

Post or send me a photo of the check valve, with some dimensions. I will see what is available.

Hi Len, this is the look. Part 1 is original hose and layout to engine. Part 2 shows Rothsport oil check valve installed making the bend in the hose Way To Sharp. Part 3 is making a 90 deg metal elbow to fit into hose's on both ends. The ID of hose is 22mm I believe. Car is now in storage, but I have it back on the lift in a month. This application is for a 914-6 conversion with out front oil cooler.
Best,Mark

Wow. Love that this service is available. Do you reuse the customer's ends and fashion the hose as required, or do you also have hardware in various configurations?

We use as many standard M30 or M26 Fittings as are available from Germany....

When we need something unique, we have a lathe for the simple stuff...

This is a 911 Oil tank adapter for a Late Motor in a early 911....

For the difficult stuff we use a Real Machine Shop.....

It all depends on the expected demand.

For one or two pieces we cut and turn down or drill out and braze them together.

More than 10, we go to our local Machine shop and get in line.

One particular piece has been over 6 months with trial and fitment and retry and re-fit.

But this one we hope we can sell at least 25 over time.

Of course, a customer can send their fittings for rework if they have them.

We have a very creative welder here. We can take parts of fittings to make a compound assy as with this.....

and with the 914-6 fittings shown earlier.

For adapters that may be in demand, we make up fixtures to ensure a correct "As Factory" fitment....

The above is for the Main Fuel Tee on a 3.2 Motor.

I did figure out how to make my elbow to the Rothport check valve. 3/4 copper pipe is 23mm diameter, same as the hose. Go figure! Ran great all summer.

I continue to be impressed with what BoxterGT has to offer. Since he provides solutions to all models, surely a mention in categories other than 914/6 would be helpful to many.

Has anyone communicated with Len (BoxterGT) lately? Seems his mailbox is full.
I would love to get some lines to keep my restoration moving forward.

My apologies guys, as I usually list my email as the preferred means of reaching me.

My pm box always seems to be full.

I will answer all emails eventually and this is the only way I can send photos, and PHOTOS can explain a unique Fuel or Oil Hose much better than I.

Thank you for your interest.
