Question odd center console Q's

Has anyone had any experience with this type of console? Do you know who sells them? What is the usual price. I like it, but am not sure how practical it is.
TIA

I have one It came with the car and I removed it to undergo my '74's restoration.

I think you need to keep an eye out for them at swap meets. They were made by AMCO (IIRC) in the '70's.

The fit is good and I like the looks except I am redoing the arm rest. I don't car for the size of the arm rest. I will make a smaller one for mine.

It also comes with two toggle switches??? I have no idea what they are for??

ANYONE???

Cheers
Kerry

Want one - check Ebay - There's one up. Referred to as a "very rare Porsche part" by GPR & seller - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33695&item=2417845374

I've got one sitting on a shelf, but ripped the 3 guage top cluster off.

The switches give you something to play with while you're bored.

I think that's where he grabbed his original pic from.

I'd sure like to know a bit more about this thing as well!

Thanks guys! That is great info. It seems like people like them well enough, and Brians picture does it justice. I'm asking because of the one on ebay. I want one, but wanted a little more info.

Oh, and the toggle switches will be for power windows on mine.

The switches are spst rockers - I believe you have to change to momentary switches dpdt - you know to get the up/down thing.

yup, i got one too, im lefty so i like to have a place to rest my right arm between shifts. Also a good place to place guages, Igot a working clock from a 356 front row center in mine, in front of the arm rest is a couple of bins for pens and stuff and below the arm rest is a big bin for cd's and to keep the list of stuff I'm looking for. Right now I also have a stock center consol and have decided to reinstall the plastic one cuz i like it better. I'm going to use the 2 swiches one for a winshild washer pump and junk the spare tire gizmo, and the other a master cut off for the sound system.

RB, that would have been more appropriate as a personal message. Next time, please hit the "pm" button at the bottom of Dr. ED's post to send him one... Or hit the envelope next to his user name to send him an email.

Thumbs up

Got the same console in my 914-6.

I've gotten used to the armrest and find I actually enjoy having someplace to rest my arm. The console under the armrest is a great place for the garage door opener and all of the rest of the crap I seem to need to drive the six on weekends.

I use the gauge holes for an ammeter [a real waste of time], oil pressure, and a clock. I think I may pull the ammeter out and replace it with a real temp gauge.

Enjoy
