So not COOL!! anyone for dear hunting?

I think my 914 and I are cursed. I just got her running after tracking down the double relay as the trouble maker. she was running for about 2 weeks ... comming to a hault today.
So ya i am driving to catch my church softball game that started at 9. I live up in Northern Ca. placerville to be exact. anyways ya so it is dark and i am on the last strech of a 20 minute drive. all on back curvy one lane mountain roads. the kind of roads most of you dream about . well comming off a long strait away... where your speed gets decent... my headlights turn and spot a large deer just standing in the middle of the road. i had no way to go around and i had no chance of stopping in time. nailed that stupid deer head on. i had just enough time to hear my passager yell "dddeer" and me go oh *&^% hold on... and there goes my plans for carpeting the front trunk. the dear went over the top after doing considerable damage to my front end.
Tomarrow i will post some pics to further my greiving process. and i am thinking that when i drive my car back i will bring my dads pick up truck along and throw the deer inthe back. serriously come on we will have a BBQ to sent that deer off right!!!....
the damage actually looks like it might not be to bad. i dont think i have any real structural damage... almost all hood and bumper. looks like i will also need new lights but i will deal with that tomarrow.
So anyone want to RSVP for the BBQ? I will suply the meat!!!

I sold one to a friend who hit 3 deer in two months.

Do you have those ultrasonic deer horns on backwards?

Sorry man, glad to hear you didn't go tree hopping.

Seriously...........they did a study on the effectiveness of those deer whistles on cars (the State Police in Michigan) and found that they actually caused the deer to become mezmerized and just stand still until the car hit them. Far better to have a warble horn or some other means of distraction that is not constant.

My sister-in-law did 3 in 2 months with her NEW Z3. One on a road trip and 2 in the same place a mile from her house...

that sucks... I hit one with a truck(81 Ford) when I was in HS... did nothing to the truck though... the deer was a different story... I would be sick if it happened in my teener!

Eric, click "post reply" instead of doing a "quick reply". (Check the right-hand side of the post near the end.) When you're there, click "Attach Multiple". Browse for the file, click "upload now", browse for the next file, click "upload now"...

Then you can post your message.

Please make sure the images aren't too big. I prefer 600x450; much bigger and the formatting gets a little odd and it takes a good while to download. Also, JPEGs are much more efficient than BMPs.

Eric,
I too feel your pain. A few years ago I was dropping my sister off at her house (she lives in Minnesota, I live in Oklahoma). We were in my 911E. Late in the night a deer jumped the road. I was doing about 85mph. I was able to slow a little, and get over a little, but I knew I had to hit it.

Didn't sound like much as we hit. The deer went over and to the right passenger door. I thought, this can't be bad. Got out my flashlight - ohmygod! Front bumper, front fender, passenger door, right rear quarter panel, totally wasted!

A pickup truck pulled up and a guy got out and asked what was wrong. I said we hit a deer. He said "where's the deer?" I said he wandered off. The guy ran back to his truck, got a flash light and went running off in the direction I pointed. Didn't even ask if we were okay! LOL!

We were shaken up but just happy we weren't injured.

Sorry to hear about your car - but hey, you're here to tell the story!

I have a friend who had a guy over for a party once who was actually a professional biologist who studied white tailed deer. He say those whistles are a joke since deer actually have no hearing in the "dogwhistle"range that those things emit. Great for dogs, though...
