1972 1.7, D-jetronic fuel injection, possible bad fuel pump?

Installed a fuel pressure gauge and started the car and the fuel pressure was 30psi. I let the car idle and about an hour later it started missing and the fuel pressure dropped to 0 and of course the car stopped running. If I wait 30 minutes the car will start and everything is ok until it gets warm again. I think this car has the original fuel pump and it is in the stock location at the passenger side. I was walking around the car after it stopped running and I could hear a bubbling sound coming from inside the fuel tank. I also noticed air bubbles in the fuel line on the passenger side that feeds into the fuel pressure regulator. I guess my next step would be checking the fuel pump filter and the fuel lines. Any help with this problem would be great!

Check the inside of the fuel tank. It's not unheard of for trash to either get into the tank, or for the tank to start rusting and its own debris to clog the inlet.

I am happy that I removed the fuel tank and checked the fuel strainer and replaced the fuel lines. I had a problem with the new lines binding which keep stopping the fuel flow every time I put the tank back in. I had to end up going under the car and removing the access cover that let me shorten the fuel lines so they would not bind up. So far after one two hour test drive the car is running ok!
