seats from other cars?

I just bought a second 914, and it has no seats or back pad... are there seats from any other cars that will fit? example will seats from a honda prelude fit? including the honda rails? or do you still need to use 914 rails? the 914 seats are scarce around here... just checking my options.

also, anyone have an extra back pad they would be willing to sell? alsmost any condition will do, as I can pull the good one out of my donor...

Scarce in Dallas??? With the bunch of 914 folks I know in that area, I find that statement a bit hard to believe...

The 914 seats are very short. The distance from the upper surface of the bottom seat cushion (i.e., where you sit!) to the bottom of the mounting rails is about 4". You would be very hard-pressed indeed to find another (non-racing) seat with a similarly small dimension there.

This is not a problem if you have a ton of head-room that you can afford to lose. Me, I brush the top when I actually have the bottom seat cushion installed. No way another seat will work for me!!

The only other seats that seem to work reasonably (i.e., without sacrificing much room) in 914s are race seats, or seats built from 914 seats.

ok, thanks Dave... I actually hooked up with a couple of Dallas-ites on 914club.com and they have given me a line on some... the reason the idea came up is I have to chance to buy some 924 seats very cheaply and was wondering if they would work..

no, I don't really have tons of head-room either.. I'm 6', so room isn't as scarce as a lot of my friends... but still nothing I want to lose anyway...

I had 924/944 seats in my 911. The seat cushion is huge compared to a 914 seat. They wouldn't fit into the backpad either.
