Accusump
Hi, I’m looking to install a Accusump system on a 964 engine in my 914. I have a 915. with a fliped the ring and pinion everything is ready to go. Just doing the oil lines now. I have a canton dry sump tank in the area of the gas tank oil cooler in the front 911 thermostat also in the trunk area .in the engine bay pressure side of the engine goes to a filter on the bulkhead 12 an line runs through the heat duct to the thermostat and from the thermostat back into the tank. Also, the lines from the thermostat go through the cooler and back into the thermostat I’m running. A number 16an line from the tank back to the suction side of the engine. I’ve been checking things out. It seems to me the best place to add the Accusump would be to remove the oil pressure sending unit find a tea that fits Where the sending unit was installed, replace the back on the top of the tea and then hook my number 12 an line into the tea at that point should be pressure there all the time in or out. Any thoughts or ideas greatly appreciated. Thank you Slammin.

I wouldn't bother. An Accusump is not needed on a 911 engine. Just don't take off like a bat outta hell as soon as the engine kicks over and oiling should not be an issue.

What’s the problem that you think needs solving via an accusump?

I concur. I have a dry sump system on my Type 4 racer's engine and I'm never starving for oil, startup or otherwise.
I'm also curious why the desire for an Accusump. It's generally used for two reasons: dry startup, and oil pickup issues when cornering. But your dry sump system negates these need for Accusump, assuming it's properly installed. My Canton tank is also up front in the fuel tank area (fuel cell in front trunk). Lines go through the cabin (it's a race car). I'm using a Tangerine thermostat mounted where the /4 oil cooler used to be. The only addition I might suggest is a manual valve (or one of those 911 check valves that you see on sale in Panorama magazine) to keep oil from seeping past the pump gears when it sits for a while (stops oil from pooling in the sump, causing smoky startups (mine's a manual valve). AN-12 lines to from the tank, -10 for everything else (pump fittings are AN-10). So...what's up with your system? GA |
