magnesium wheels
I talked to Al Reed today and he said that the magnesium would be shiny for a couple months after polishing and then it would turn black, even if it had a clear powder coat on it. I really would like my wheels to be shiny. Is there anything anyone can think of that I could do to keep em shiny?

he wasn't sure what wheels I had so I faxed him a picture and asked him if that could be a possible solution. Hopefully he'll call back today and I can ask.

What wheels are you talking about? I know Mahle made some gas burners that were magnesium but I thought Pedrini's were aluminum. Am I way off on that one?

Pedrinis are not magnesium. They are cast aluminum.

For early 911's and 914's, I'm pretty sure Porsche only made the 5 bolt Mahle in magnesium.

mine do deffinitely look cast. I just didn't know how to tell the aluminum or magnesium apart.

If they're factory-supplied four-bolt wheels, they are aluminum. (Or steel!
