In Search of a Fuel Screen
Does anybody know of a source for a new fuel screen for a 74 914?
I don't see one on the Pelican parts list. Also, Where exactly is the fuel screen & how do I get to it. Thanks, Vern |

If it has one it will be in the fuel tank over the suction line.
If it doesn't have one, buy a fuel filter and place it PRIOR to the fuel pump. Case solved!

Just so I understand, Are we talking "inside" the fuel tank?
That's how it was on other cars of mine but nothing seems simple on a 914, |

Yes and since the fuel lines enter the bottom of the tank, I doubt there is one unless you can get your hand thru the fuel level sending hole.
Just put a filter prior to the pump on the suction line. This is the normal location on the cars I've owned.

Heres the part number for it; strainer sock
70-74 111-209-147 75-76 113 209 147 See if pelican can special order it for you. If not AA has it then. You need to pull the tank and remove the feed line head at the bottom of the tank to access it. The bolt is at the bottom, attaching the feed tube. |

Pelican did not have em.
I gots mine from http://www.AJUSA.com but you have to call them. They have most parts AA has. I have heard its tha same as the VW BUG screens http://www.bfyobsoleteparts.com/oldsite/ass40.html shows the same numbers. So its possible your FLAP could have it. Of course you could call AA, but remember, for the next 30 days when your driving around and see another 914 you must call out...UNCLEAN!....UNCLEAN! -Rich |

Your local porsche dealer should carry them.
