Boxster swap has been tried, but is not that easy. The engine is a little too wide to fit between the inner suspension mounting ears. This can be dealt with, but it's fiddly and challenging.
The V8 swaps have been common for decades. The small-block Chevy is a very popular swap. Subaru swaps have become more popular in recent years. Mostly Imprezza WRX engines, but a few others as well. Others have been done. Apparently a K20 Honda engine will fit. VW TDI four-cylinders for massive amounts of torque and great fuel economy. Nissan and Honda V6es. And so on. Some of the above have also used Boxster transmissions. They're bigger and heavier than the 901 box, but can handle more torque. You may wind up losing at least some of the rear trunk space to use them. Subaru transmissions with the rear drive shaft output blocked off or locked out have also been used. Lots of options. Some have been done more times and have "recipes" to follow; others require more engineering to be done. Places like Renegade Hybrids have a lot of knowledge of different swaps. --DD

Thanks for info. I did run across the Renegade youtube channel, the 6.2 LS w boxter/trans would be wicked @ 455 HP. I currently have a 2015 Camaro 2SS with that motor? Couldn't imagine what that would be like in that light of a car? I have a 2008 Aston Martin V8V 4.3 380 HP but that's 3900lbs? I think If you're going to throw money at it it might as well go all i with 6.2 LS?

If you’re gonna throw money at it, stick with a Porsche 6…

Swap
Two points…..your car so your choice but Chalon seems to have lost its appeal……
Buy a correctly done swap…..you will likely save money ……but then again there is masochism

I replaced my underperforming (on the track) 2.0 with a "built" 2.7 911 engine. I can tell you, the car is brutal on the street. To me, an LS conversion just means you're going to die faster. . . Old track joke. As previously said, a 911 engine transplant is what you need. They're easier, if that's a phrase that can be used here, as the car is designed to accept that transplant. The 901 doesn't need anything to beef it up for normal conditions and it just sounds amazing in third gear. My take. It is your car and you need to do what you think is best for you.
