Got an ignition question

_ Hi all, I am a watercooler ('77 924), but seeing as there is no one on the other forum I figured you guys could give me a hand.

_ My #1 cylinder is not firing. There is little or no spark reaching the end of the wire. I swapped wires and the problem stayed at #1. I swapped plugs (which are all rather clean and gapped apropriatly) also to no avail. Finally I purchased a new cap and rotor and they did not solve the problem. The car runs remarkably well considering that it is only at 75%.

_ What is causing this? The only other thing I can think of is that maybe I have the wires plugged in totally wrong. I know the firing order is 1-3-4-2, and that is how the wires are in the cap, but maybe I have them off by 90 degrees? Any clues on where to go next? Thanks a bunch!

If the other three cylinders are firing, it's pretty much not possible to have the dist. cap on the wrong way as to cause just the #1 cylinder not to fire. Same with the wires.

If the car is running "remarkably well", it probably is still firing. You'll REALLY know if you don't have a cylinder firing. Your car would sound like it's REALLY dying. Plus, you'll have a lot of stuff come out the end of your car as part of exhaust that was never burnt.

It's most likely something else because you've pratically (from what you said above) changed every part of the ignition system of your engine (ie from the rotor to the plugs).

Run the engine at night with no lights around, sounds like the spark voltage is leaking away? You'll see the arching easily. Good luck.
