Koni Rear Shocks - spring cups

My car came with Koni's in the rear (the red, adjustable ones).

I noticed that the spring cup on the bottom of the shock looks like you can set it at 3 different spots on the shock. It looks to have a snap ring type clip that holds the spring cup in place.

I was wondering what the different settings will do. My car is currently set at the middle setting.

I also noticed that there is no rubber spring seat which is what my BMW has. Is there supposed to be any rubber seats that cushion the springs from the spring cup?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Vern

This is for setting the height of the car in the rear, move to the lowest position and the car will be lowered whatever the distance is between the grooves.

The rubber is normally for noise suppression, they help limit the amount of road noise transmitted into the car (not sure if they would help too much in a 914 )

Thanks Mike. You're probably right about the noise suppression - nothings gonna help this car.
