breakerless ignition module/setting timing

mybuddy bought oneofthese and the guy at
*********** said the 1.8 timing should be set at 27.5 degrees TDC @ 3000rpm. Themanuals say 7.5 degrees TDC @ 900 rpm. Who is right?

anyone knows the correct answer ?
Can you trust those AA guys ?

The manual is correct if he still has the stock distributor on his 1.8. The other figure is for the stock distributor on a 1.7 or 2.0 engine.

I wouldn't trust AA. Then again, I wouldn't trust me either!! The factory manuals, however, I would trust for the most part.

Mine is at 27 and that is what most people say to set it at.

skline 07-31-2003 12:24 PM

Oh, Mine is a 2.0

Thanks guys....he has a stock 1.8 so I guess his timing is set wrong....might cure his stalling when coming to a stop when he sets it right...itshocks me that its starts right up without a problem

Damn AA .....they knew he had a 1.8 ...does AA stand for anything else ? Think those guys drink brew and sell molested parts onebay all day....
just kidding
Thanks again

I have a 1.8

The timing from what I've read is set at the 900 rpm. The 2700 if for the D-Jet engines.
