Replacing front motor mounts on 2.0
 

I need to replace the front motor mounts on my 2.0 engine. Do I have to take all the fan housing off to do this or is there an eaisier way ? The engine is out of the car, I can't see a way to get to the top bolt of the bracket or the nut that holds the mount to the bracket.

you can do it with the engine in the car and you don't have to remove the fan housing. it's just hard/awkward to get to. may need a stubby 1/4" ratchet to fit in to get to the top nuts. DD says you can remove the oil filter to get some more room. it's not bad, i've done it. you should be able to do a search on the topic as there was a post about replacing motor mounts about 6 mo ( + or - ) ago.

ps: oh yeah, support the engine and drop the support bar to put the new mounts in

Since the engine is out of the car I would pull the fan housing and all the sheet metal stuff and really clean and paint them up nice. It makes it much easier to do the motor mounts at the same time. I did our 1974 a couple of years ago with the engine in the car and it is a pain!!! Good luck.

Yeh, they're up in there. Good time to check the seal and oil pump.

Thanks for the help. I may pull the fan housing anyway, it is leaking oil in front, and the tin could use some new paint

check/clean the oil cooler while it's opened up. you will not have a better opportunity. get a new fan belt too. if you have some extra coin replace the seals for the engine tin if they're bad
