Seat belts ...
I'm trying to figure out how to reinstall my seatbelts. Specifically the arrangement of the belt through the loops at the top bolt. Anybody have a photo of this area? I couldn't find an assembly drawing showing all the bolts, spacers, washers, etc. but this would come in handy right now.
Also, I think my car was missing some trim vinyl around the seatbelt reels. What is supposed to conceal the firewall in those areas? For now I painted the area trim black, also across the bottom of the back glass to cover the adhesive which shows through. Any help greatly appreciated ... |

Here's a diagram of the way the washers and such go:
![]() I believe that the belts themselves are the main thing that hides the firewall paint from view. I don't recall any vinyl trim in that area. --DD

Thanks Dave! That was enough to get me going. I was trying to remember how the chrome bracket fit in, and now see it goes behind the reel mechanism.

Those seat belt diagrams were a great help. I've got the seatbelts back in. Now if I can only figure out why the passenger side has the clip part (what goes into the buckle) reversed. And the slot seems too narrow to flip it around. The driver side came out ok so it's not like I got them reversed left to right. There must be a trick to getting this straightened out.
I have another question. I was real good about bagging and labeling my parts but I must have missed a few. Here's a photo of some mystery pieces that might have come off with the seats but I'm not sure. The hole spacing is the same as the seat bracket hinges, but if they were spacers I'd think I'd have four instead of two - one for each hinge. The spacing also matches the top/bottom bolt pairs on the door striker plates on the jamb, but I don't remember any shims on one side. ![]() Anybody have an idea where these go? I always hate it when there are parts left over ... like when assembling a BBQ grille or kids bike. |

Those go under the bolt heads of the the seat rear mounts (the hinges on the floor). They are like washers, not spacers, though. And you should have 4 total.

Thanks James! Maybe the other two are still stuck onto the seat mounts. I bet they fell off after I pulled the seats then didn't know where they had come from. It's great being able to turn to all you folks for help.
