1974 914-4 w/carbs wiring diagram
Hello!
Does anyone out there know of a 914 carbs conversion website/tech article/etc...? I am currently doing the thing and would be happy to have another perspective. Maybe I could write something (if nothing exists). Any interest?

No too hard really...
Remove the FI and FI wiring harness. Keep the stock Ignition harness, just unplug the AAR from it. Figure out which pole of the 4 pole FI harness plug receptacle on the relay plate is switched 12V to operate the fuel pump and wire the new pump to it. Did I miss something? You are in business. |

carbs wiring
The car was purchased w/o engine, transmission, interior, glass...It was set up for carbs in it's previous life.
The po chopped the main harness where it comes out from the rear firewall into the engine compartment. There is no relay board or etc... just unmarked wires. I think I have it figured out. Getting power for the pump from the coil. I just need to figure out which sensor wire goes where...

The pump can be a high-draw component. I would not hook it up to the coil, I generally like the coil to get as much voltage/current as it can. On a car with a complete wiring harness, I would hook the pump to the relay board as Bowlsby suggested.
Not sure what to do offhand on a hacked-up one like yours. Besides hunt down the owner and shoot him.... ![]() --DD

I am really close now. I have traced all of the wires back and have them accounted for.
I noticed the car does not have a voltage regulator. I will need to patch one in... Thanks for the heads up on the pump Dave! I have a seperate connection for the pump now!
