Recovering fabric seats??????

Howdy y'all
I finally procured a new truck (OT, sorry!) and have been busy tying up insurance stuff and getting settled, so I haven't been around in a bit. I haven't even driven my teener in a coupl'a weeks (shame, shame).
Well, my question, she goes-a like dis... Is it possible to re-cover a set of fabric seats? I had a set of custom 2-color (red and black) buckets made last year, and they're realllly nice. However, my new truck is blue and has leather buckets ( hoo-yeah, I'm a claaaassy guy). So I'm thinking, how would these seats look in my car? They're super comfy, but the color is wrong.....maybe if they were all black, hmmm.
Anyhow, I'm gonna try to post a pic. mine are the same, only the centers are red.

How do you think these'd look in a 914?

Hey Hendrix, I actually considered buying a truck from "out yonder", but I found a screamin deal on a Ram in Albany. She's set up real purdy too - custom paintjob, 360, headers, powerchip, duals, 4x4. It even had a checkered flag in the rear window of the racerback. Yeehaw!

Unless you bolt them to the floor pan, they will sit too high. You'll run out of head room, and your knees will hit the steering wheel.

Well, maybe if you're Neidel-sized you'll be OK.

(The Neidels are a local family that has been PCA's national Family of the Year on at least one occasion. They all have three things in common: Ain't a-one of them over about five-four, they all talk a million miles a minute, and they all drive 914s really fast. Oh, make that four--they're all really nice people!)

Tough to put any seats other than racing buckets or stock 914 seats into a 914... Not much room.

Heya
I forgot about that seat-height deal, although it may work in my favor, seein's how I'm a towering 5'5 myself. I don't know how my passengers'd enjoy it though, seein's how everyone I know is taller than me!
What about the re-covering, any ideas? I was thinking about making the centers black - does it HAVE to go to an upholsterer, or can a patient person do it? The sections in question are fairly small.
I'd really hate to part with them, 'cause they're very comfortable, but right now they'll only fit in a vehicle with red in the scheme somewhere.
If not, anyone in Upstate NY want a swank set of buckets?
JeFf
