I vote for a mis-connected wire. Possibly something in the seatbelt interlock relay system, if that is still there under the passenger's seat.

You might take a look under your passenger seat. That's where the door switch and oil light wiring all come together, at the seat belt relay. Here, take a look at this part of the schematic:

F2 & F3 (lower-left) are the door switches. F1 (lower right) is the oil pressure switch. K3 is the oil light and J34 is the relay unit. It's anybody's guess what actually failed but first do a visual check for the obvious, like a loose wire or ground came off. Or maybe the wires got pinched together and shorted. Even the relay could have something shorting inside. If your car was like mine was, I found where water had ponded under there and wires were corroded off the terminals. But at least this is a good place to start looking. Good luck!

I like this response. We have to keep a sense of humor about these cars or we really will go crazy.

When ever I have an electrical problem, I change all of the fuses.

I looked at the box and the connections. The box and wires are in excellent condition. But, I cant seem to figure out the orientation of the schematic. I was hoping they would appear the same way as they are on the box. the actual box has 3 rows of wire connects. The schematic doesnt seem to show that. The actual box doesnt have the numbers displayed on it. So I assume everything is in order. But who knows :/

The only thing you can go by is the color code on the wires. The oil light should be the green wire with the red stripe. The one I drew an arrow to.

They must have sensed the oil pressure switch to determine if the motor was running for the seat belt interlock. I'd try disconnecting the green/red wires from the relay to isolate that circuit from everything else. That will tell you if the fault is in the relay can.

If the green oil light comes on when I open the door, I close the green oil light door.

Says so, right in the manual; "Do not open the green oil light door. There are no serviceable part inside the green oil box. If the unit has failed it must be replaced. Please contact the factory if you know of anyone opening the green oil box, or tinkering around in there."

How about i just disconnect it. That way being the light will never come on, I will never have an engine problem. Hendrix, feel free to paint your redline on your tach to 10K. If you keep your revs below the redline, you'll be ok

My relay is different than yours Guy. It's a 005 not a 002. Some of the wires are in dif spots, but the oil wire is the same. I will try disconnecting it and see what happens in the morning. Thanks for help and uh comic relief.

It is that round thing with numbers on it that has never seemed to move or work since you first owned the car. It is one of those features that you just figures comes with the car but has no real use, so you just ignore it......Kinda like the Speedometer. If the needle-like device ever starts to move......Pull Over Immediately because something seriously wrong may have just happened to your car!
Oh, and Kerry, I think we all have had a similar experience. Can I here everybody say:
