if anyone's intereseted.. this showed

up in my routine search in the local(San Antonio) classifieds:

"PORSCHE 72 914, Good cond., Blk, complete 72 parts car, $2995. 830-743-1209 "

The 830 area code is for areas surrounding San Antonio, not SA proper. If anyone's interested I could probably head over and take a look. 3K is a lot of cash for a parts car, if this is what it is.

I don't know anything about it or who owns it... just that it was listed in mysa.com --> classifieds -->antiques/classics

I have my hands full trying to get my 74 turned into a daily driver to have a 2nd parked in the driveway...

hmmm... now that i think about it, it's our first wedding anniversary next month.. maybe I should surprise Kate with another 914.. what do ya think ?

btw.. I installed the carpet this past weekend... I will post a few pics...

Installation took more time and more beer than I initially anticipated.. started about 8:30pm and finished up at about 12:45am!

those stripes on the driver's seat are from the drying of the dumb armor all...

I bought the seat vinyl kit and the carpet kit from World Upholstery online...

Before anyone says anything... Yes, I do know I installed my seat belt receivers backwards!

robphelan,

That looks very nice! I forgot how much leg room there is in these cars without the center console and AC.

Did you redo the seat vinyl yourself? Impressive. What did you think of the kit. I'd just like to redo the cloth inserts on mine. The vinyl is in good shape. Any suggestions?

Enjoy!

Are you sure that ad is not for a complete driver 914 and a parts car the same year?? 3k for a parts car is absurd.

Thanks for the compliments... there is a ton of room in there that I feel like building a console to put in some speakers to fill it up a little.

I didn't recover the seats myself - took it down to a local upholstery shop. Charged me 100(this was before I got married and had a kid and bought a house, so it was easier for me to drop a C-note without too much thought). I really like they way they came out.

I have no idea about how many cars this guy has for the 3k. I guess I should/could call him up and get more info. His ad is a little cryptic - yet I understand trying to cut down on the verbage - local paper charges $60 for 3 lines for 12 days

Rob.. nice job. Where did you get the carpet kit?

regarding the ad, sounds like 2 cars.. a good 72 and a parts 72..

Rob,

Can I suggest that you use something other than armor all? I just refreshed the interior of my 911 with leathertique products. They are designed for leather, but they work on vinyl. Just using the rejuvnating oil and cleaner (used to remove the excess oil) made the interior look almost brand new. Again, the nice thing is that after the oil and the cleaner, the interior looks great with no residual slipperiness.

AZ914.. i bought it from World Upholstery - IIRC it was about 225/250 for the carpet, and about 250 for the seat kit.

Red-beard,
i'm glad you mentioned leatherique.... I use zymol for my leather in my bimmer, and have been looking for something for the 914 vinyl.
