I have bought cars, and shipped them.
I pay all the money up front, and I pay the shipper. If anything bad happens, I'm ****ed. You are the seller, you are Mr. Goodend.. make sure the money works, I always pay in AMEX money orders, and they clear fast.. ![]() As far as the seller goes, how much is the transaction? There's always small claims court, and interstate fraud charges! I trust you, you can use me as a reference. Be safe out there. M

Be very careful my dad has sold a car online twice now each time the buyer has sent a check. The check is from out of the country and never clears. While this lump sum is in the bank, the buyer called and had the audascity to called my dad a cheat for not sending the car.
Don't do anything until the check clears! Amen.

Selling the car for 3100 ansd shipping is about 1100 so its a lot of money and if we make the deal we will have to trust one another I suppose...right..I dont want to let my car go on a truck til the money clear my account....that the correct way right ?
thanks

I sold a Sunbeam Tiger to a guy in Chicago. He paid a member of a local car club to do a PPI for him. He then sent me a deposit to hold the car till he could make shipping arrangements. The deposit was nonrefundable and I faxed him a receipt for it saying that. He then sent a cashiers check for the balance shortly before the ship date. A transport company came and picked up the car. The buyer handled all the arrangements with them. I think this was a pretty typical deal. Hope this helps.

I just got a 914 that is currently being shipped from West Virginia to California. I made arrangements, myself, with a shipper.
It cost $950 for door-to-door service on an open car carrier. If I wanted enclosed trucking service, it was going to be $1600 I had to put a $200 deposit down (paid to the shipper) and I will pay the balance when the car arrives. I used AAA Advantage Auto 1-800-233-4875 and I have no complaints so far (of course, I haven't seen the car yet). I also had to supply the shipper with the Vin# & licence plate and it would have cost $200 more if the car was not running (not the case here). Personally, if I was in your situation, I would pay the seller the proper amount for the car and then pay the shipper seperately. I also had the seller send me the Title slip in the mail so that I could get the DMV stuff taken care of while in transit. Vern |

Make sure you have your money, cash in hand BEFORE the car leaves, he's probably just as nice a guy as you are, so if he has a problem, just fix it!
Shipping. I will drive the next ones home. M

What a small world
Just sealed the deal a 70 914. Sent the deposit this morning. My buddy who lives 2 hours away will go get car and tons of parts I plan on driving out, getting U-haul dolly and driving the whole thing back when I can get away from work. I didn't want the car to sit at sellers house I think it is rude. Transport shipper would have been good except for additional parts like motor, set of wheels and tires and boxes of other stuff. |
