Didn't he sell the yellow 916?
If so I won't be there, start without me. Paul

Oh come on Paul. Just follow the directions "for those coming from the east". It's easy.

I might be able to sneak out to join the canyon run, but doubtful I can make the trek up to Oxnard.
This has got to be a dumba$$ question...but who is Otis Chandler anyway?

Gotcha...I was thinking "Dorothy Chandler Pavillion" which is very likely the same family. L.A. Old Money, like the Dohenys.

Yes, same family. Otis actually has a 959, an RS, and maybe a couple of other Porsches.
He used to own the 917-30 of Mark Donahue, and I helped work on a few of his spyders back in the day. Anyway, things kick off at 8am at the Sagebrush and the more people who show ... up the better. |

Long drive from Iowa- if I was in California I'd be there in a flash!

Hey guys -- chances of ME making it to breakfast (or anywhere) at 8am on a Saturday are slim.
What time approx do you think you'll be heading for the canyon? If I wake up on time, I could at least try to meet you at Mulholland and Stunt, and cruise with you up to Zuma or so...

Wonders never cease...I actually woke up at 7:30 and made it to breakfast. We were the ONLY people at the Sagebrush this morning, which was a bit freaky (it is a HUGE place and by now is probably packed with bikers and beer guzzlers.)
Anyways, had a fun little drive over Stunt/Las Flores and then I bugged out to head back home over Latigo Cyn. Wow, I had forgotten just how brutal Latigo is. Almost all 2nd gear and constant braking, even in the uphill direction! Fun though ![]() My heart skipped a beat when a local Sheriff pulled a U-ey right behind me and followed me home for the last 2 miles or so. I was trying to keep the noise & speed waaaay down so was sputtering along at about 42mph in 5th. No hassles though.

Chris, the museum was worth the time. Sorry you couldn't stick it out. More sorry I couldn't bring the scrapper 911 out yet.
What the heck was a sheriff doing on a road that you could only do in 2nd gear? Unless he was patrolling for firebugs. Anyway, glad he figured out you were "just crusing." |

Yeah, I would have liked to see the museum but I had to get home and hang out with my son.
The Sheriff cruiser was at Agoura Road & Chesebro (near my house). I don't think I saw a single car on Latigo. Quite a few bicylclists, though. The car can do about 65 in 2nd gear and 80 in 3rd, which is plenty to get a ticket (35-45 zones around here, mostly.) As you know it is loud as hell, too, which is my main worry re. law enforcement. I don't want to get shaken down for equipment violations...
