Head Count for the Road Glue meet

914'ers,

Please email me at randy@roadglue.com if you are planning on attending the Road Glue Meet and Tour on January 15th. I am trying to get approximate attendance figures. We will be meeting up rain or shine, so please specify if you will bail out if it rains on the 15th. If you aren't aware that we are having a meet, please visit www.roadglue.com for full details. While you are there, be sure to sign our growing database.

I am guesstimating that we will have a turnout of at least 20 cars, but up to 50 cars may show up. Road Glue is primarily intended to serve 914 enthusiasts in Northern California, but the event is open to any 914 owners who wish to attend.

Thank you,

--

still up in the air.. i told my parents i'd be up there.. but it really depends on how much school work i have that weekend.. *IF* i do go.. i'll end up there the night of the 14th.. meet on the 15th, drive back to pomona afterwards, drive to SD the morning of the 16th for the auto-x..

kind of a draining schedule.. hope i'll be up for it.. i'm eager to meet the guys from up north..

How long do you think it would take me to get there from North Carolina? If I leave today I might can make it.

I am envious of all of you out there with other 914's on the road with you. I am lucky to see another 914 on the road every year or two. Have fun at your meet!

Pritchard

You aren't showing up just because you live a LITTLE ways away. Don't expect us to feel sorry for you. What about all the poor little 914 owners in the China??? How do think they are feeling right about now? Humph.

:-)

Only pulling your leg. Are there really that few 914's in North Carolina? Why?

Yes there are that few 914's in my area of the state. I used to live in the capital city of Raleigh. I only saw two 914's in 3 years.

I now live near the center of North Carolina. There are three 914's in town, counting mine. I almost never see the other two out and about.

I guess that the humidity here might have something to do with the deterioration of the frame/unibody. Therefore very few cars are left.

Have a good time and post some pix of the gathering. Almost nothing gets my heart thumping like seeing a bunch of 914's together.

I'll be there, hopefully in the 914 !!!!

If I can drive down to Santa Barbara for a qtr panel (700 miles round trip) I'm sure others can and will drive just as far to hang with a couple of their 914 buddies.

Dave, will you be in the 914 ?

Hey.. i saw 4 914's just today.. i guess the teener is a popular college car.. or at least it seems to be getting more popular..

hmm.. let's see.. 350mi up to san jose, go to gettogether, 350mi back to pomona the same day. 115mi to Qualcomm park for auto-x the next morning (at 4), auto-x all day, 115mi to get back to pomona.. that seems like an awful lot of driving.. but i think i'm insane enough to do it.. especially since my parents live 4 miles down the road from WasteValley..

hey Pritchard,
i bought a 914 out of your area about 4 months ago. i got it from my girlfriend's father who lives in greensboro. it's a white '74 1.8L. it now resides with me in johnson city tennessee, which is only about 3.5 hours away from you. maybe we can get together sometime (if i can get mine back together) and talk some 914. i know of another teener that is 20 mins from me that i correspond with via email and the telephone.

sorry, nothing about the north cal. meet in this post, but i hope y'all have enough fun out there for the rest of us who can't attend.

utterly envious,
minh nguyen

hey Pritchard,
just got a crazy thought. if your car is roadworthy and your willing to trust me, i'd consider splitting the cost and driving in shifts to make an all out run for the west coast. i've made a 2950 mile haul in my '78 vw bus from here to oregon in about two and a half days. i was by myself and a bit sleep deprived by the end, but i made it without an incident.

just thought i'd throw that out there,
minh

Hey, now that's a trek.

Maybe another member would be willing to put you guys up in their house for a day or two too? Anybody? I would offer but I live two hours north or the meeting spot myself and don't have any extra room.

For those who won't be able to make this initial meet...(its only a week away!) there will be future opportunities...

There are intended to be future events planned which will be discussed and your comments, interests and ideas are all very welcome. The idea for this group has stemmed from the perception of a pent-up desire for a group of this nature in the 914 community, and specifically for the Northern California region but not necessarily limited to this locale...

There are many thoughts ideas and possibilities being considered and your involvement will be what makes or breaks the success of this venture...not the efforts of only a few...

Post your contributions on the website...watch it for updates and lets have fun!
