What is this tube? What connects here?

I was unable to figure out what this tube is for and what it gets connected to. I have a 1972 914\4 1.7. (Carbed) Can somebody fill me in? Thanks

It diverts a little bit of your cooling air and pushes it into the charcoal cannister that lives up front by the gas tank. The cannister collects fuel vapor from the gas tank, and eventually sends it into the intake of the fuel injection system to be burned.

If you don't have the cannister system, cap it off.

Note that, on some cars, there is a fitting on the left-side engine tin for this purpose. A few cars actually have both fittings, even though only one would be used.
